Light of the World

Matthew 5:14-16
You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

I remember singing “This Little Light of Mine” in elementary school. Yes, we had a small Bible study every Wednesday at a public school in Pikeville, KY, in the 60’s. An elderly couple led us in songs and told us a story each week. The message was clear: we were to be kind, honest, and resemble Jesus in our lives. Unfortunately, times have changed, and public-school Bible studies are a thing of the past. However, the message remains the same.

The way you live your life either leads others to the light or away from it.

Philippians 2:14-16
Become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life.
Your life is your greatest witness!
